Mitre 10 Warehouse Extension

MVM Group contracted to Early Bird Construction to complete works over a two-stage programme that was delivered at six-month intervals. The team were responsible for external timber frames, installing internal guttering for the roof runoff, and the internal timber frames for offices and bathrooms.

The MVM Group onsite team comprised a leading hand, two labourers, two builders and two apprentices. The works carried out included wrapping and pre-cladding installations, applying building paper and water tight materials for installation of the cavity drainage system. The team also completed the soffits under the building canopy.

Interior works delivered including finishing line, finishing trims, and hanging doors. MVM Group were then asked to assist with additional walls, installation of rondo ceiling battens and the boxing formwork for concreting.

MVM Group's onsite Leading Hand liaised with the client's Project Manager for this large scale commercial building providing updates on work progress, delivery time frames and upcoming works to ensure timing fitted in with the overall project programme. He communicated Health and Safety messaging and planning through tool box meetings outlining safety inspection results and hazard awareness. With a portion of the work carried out at height, boom and scissors lifts were used to gain access. The team received specific training and achieved licences to work with this equipment.

In response to delays in the delivery of construction materials, MVM group rescheduled the works sequences to maintain forward momentum and organised weekend rosters to make up time. Where there was a requirement for an additional walls MVM Group gave advice about their buildability, building code compliance and building materials required.

The works were delivered a week early, with the client expressing appreciation of the quality of work, general construction advice and responsiveness of the team. This has led to ongoing work being offered from in the form of construction of another commercial warehouse in the Hobsonville area. There were no lost-time accidents and the works at height were performed safely.
